Register as a team leader
For Discovery for Kids you need to be over 16 years and over.
Being a team leader on Discovery for Teens is open to adults 18 and over. Assisting on the Discovery programme is a fun, unique experience offering fantastic benefits. Past Team Leaders describe it as the most powerful eleven day learning environment available. Be prepared to stretch and grow yourself while helping others.
There is no financial on-programme cost, just transport to and from the venue plus your time and commitment. For Discovery for Teens all of your accommodation and food costs are paid for. Discovery for Kids are non-residential programmes, so does not include accommodation.
For Discovery for Kids you are committing to two and a half days . Upcoming dates can be found on the kids page.
For Discovery for Teens you are committing to 10 days - three days training plus 7 days with the teens. Discovery for Teens are usually run during the second week of the April and October School Holidays, with training from Thursday evening of the first week of the School Holidays.
During the programme you will discover:
- How to motivate and engage people of all ages
- A fresh enthusiasm towards learning
- More effective learning with better results
- How to successfully work in a team
- The ability to lead a team
- Powerful methods to set and achieve goals
- A sense of purpose and direction
When an adult volunteers to help run a Discovery course, that adult has the opportunity to experience the same full programme as the kids/teens, plus the additional perspectives of leadership and facilitation. You grow a lot as a person, as a parent, and as a training provider and coach as a result of what you learn at Discovery.
“I have been to Discovery For Teens as an adult volunteer staff 5 times (2 times as ‘extraordinary staff’ and 3 times as core staff) from 1994-1998. My daughter was just 4 ½ years old when I went for the first time, and I always liked to tell everyone that she was my ‘teen under construction’. She is now an amazing woman of 24, and as it turned out, my participation in Discovery gave me amazing tools to be a better parent!”
